Welcome to UNITY Driving Academy Ltd. To ensure a smooth and effective learning experience, please review and adhere to the following policies:

1. Licensing Requirements:

Students must provide and carry a valid BC Learner’s Driver's License or, a Canadian Driver’s License before any lesson, and through the duration of driving lessons/training. Instructors have the right to refuse or cancel your driving lesson (no refund) if you fail to provide proof of an appropriate license prior to your first driving lessons.

2. Fitness for Driving Lessons:

For health and safety, ALL Students must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of undertaking the driving lessons.

3. Registration and Payment:

All students must be registered and have paid for their lessons in advance, no later than the first lesson. (ICBC Road test and licensing fees are not included in lesson fees). Prices are subject to change without notice.

4. ICBC Road Test Licensing Fees:

ICBC Road test and licensing fees are not included in lesson fees. Prices are subject to change without notice.

5. Cancellations and Rescheduling:

UNITY Driving Academy Ltd. may cancel a scheduled appointment for unforeseen circumstances (e.g., instructor illness, vehicle breakdown, poor road conditions). Students will be notified as soon as possible, and the lesson will be rescheduled.

6. Individual Lessons:

All lessons are individual, one-on-one unless both the instructor and student agree to additional persons in the car. A maximum of three people (one observing) are allowed in the vehicle during the lesson.

7. Substance Abuse and Behavior:

UNITY Driving Academy Ltd. reserves the right to cancel lessons with no refunds if the student is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or using foul, abusive, or aggressive language.

8. Lesson Duration:

a. 90-minute lessons: 80 minutes of practice driving and 10 minutes of feedback.

b. 60-minute lessons: 50 minutes of practice driving and 10 minutes of feedback.

9. Driving Lesson Pickup Policy:

All driving lessons will have a designated pickup point at McDonald’s 1940 Oxford Connector in Port Coquitlam. Please ensure you are at this location on time for the start of your lesson. If/when needed by the student, additional pick-up/drop-off fees will be assessed and must be paid at the time of booking.

10. Late Arrival Policy:

If you are within 10 minutes late, you will receive the rest of your scheduled lesson, but no feedback time, and will be charged for the full lesson. If you are late beyond 10 minutes (without informing the instructor), the instructor will leave, and you WILL be considered as a NO SHOW lesson (no refund or reschedule for that lesson).

11. Appropriate Attire:

Students should wear suitable footwear and clothing that won’t restrict movement or be considered inappropriate.

12. Monitoring and Recording:

Lessons are video-monitored and recorded for safety, liability, and insurance purposes. (purpose of protection of both the student and instructor, ensuring accountability).

13. Refund Policy:

a. No refunds for driving lessons or road test sessions that have taken place.

b. Refunds for unused lessons will be paid if notice is received 48 hours prior to the scheduled lesson, with a $25 processing fee.

14. Cancellation and Rescheduling Fees:

a. A 48-hour notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson, or a $50 fee will be assessed.

b. For cancelling a road test appointment made by UNITY Driving Academy Ltd., a 72-hour notice is required to notify ICBC. Failure to provide sufficient notice may result in an additional $25 road test cancellation fee to ICBC.

15. Health and Safety Protocols:

Students must adhere to all health and safety protocols, including any measures related to COVID-19 or other public health concerns.

16. Course Completion:

Successful completion of the driving course requires attendance of all scheduled lessons and satisfactory progress as determined by the instructor.
